Funk & Soul Night
We are pleased to schedule the Funk & Soul night again as one of the hottest events of the Jazztage Dresden Festival.
The line up includes the former band, founded in Liverpool, Mo `blow. With the Berliner Jazz & Blues Award, the band is centered around saxophonist Felix F. Falk impressing a sweeping concept of jazz and funk. An economical Fender Rhodes, a burrowing elegant bass, and drums are harmonious to the robust sound of Falk's saxophone in the tradition of the Texas Tenors and all it takes to get to the point.
Anyone who thinks he can give his dancing shoes a break this evening is wrong!
We are also proud to bring the legendary George Duke as one of the highlights of the program presented by the Jazztage Dresden Festival. Power and emotion, enthusiasm and virtuosity - George Duke broke into his career, with a whole range of expectations from his broad-based audience. Primarily focused on entertaining, he is the perfect man for the job. It does not matter to him whether he is in his own band or another's: Who had him as a sideman was able to rely entirely on him and equally on his overwhelming inspiration and spontaneity. He came to international fame on the side of Frank Zappa, who employed him in the early seventies for five years as one of the "Mothers of Invention." At the same time Duke collaborated with music legends such as Julian "Cannonball" Adderley and Dizzy Gillespie. He continued to explore the roots of jazz and the possibilities of fusion music through joint projects with the violinist Jean-Luc Ponty, drummer Billy Cobham and bassist Stanley Clarke. Funk & Soul Night has turned to the groove master to rule the night! Visitors who are traveling by car, have the opportunity to park for free two hours before and after the event. Whoever wants to leave their car keys at home may prefer a precaution, rest assured: the last train for the center is easily accessible by the George Duke concert.
