No other guitarist has mastered modern Gypsy Swing like Joscho Stephan: With his authentic sound, harmonic sophistication, rhythmic sense, and above all his stunning solo technique, Stephan has performed in front of the international guitar scene and has won an outstanding reputation. The legendary music of Gypsy Swing succeeds like no other in reinventing itself without denying its artistic roots. In Stephan’s young career he already produced five CDs and a DVD with imaginative Gypsy jazz variations and interpretations in the international head of the Gypsy Swing. In this case, the virtuoso with his Maccaferri guitar, displayed himself as an original artist and a fantastic soloist, with explosive dynamics, subtle nuances and surprising phrasing. His reputation as an original innovator of the genre continues to evolve.
Great musicians like Paquito D'Rivera, James Carter, Grady Tate and Charlie Mariano were delighted to participate in joint appearances with Joscho Stephan. Together with the two exceptional guitarists Martin Taylor and Tommy Emmanuel he was on tour in Australia. With his own ensembles (trio and quintet) Stephan has played at many major festivals throughout Europe. In the U.S.A, he performed in New York's Lincoln Center, the legendary jazz venue: Birdland and in America’s music capital, Nashville.
In the press, the young Joscho Stephan is always celebrated. His debut album, “Swinging Strings,” was named by the American magazine, "Guitar Player," CD of the month.
