Echoes Of Swing
- Colin T. Dawson - Trumpet
- Chris Hopkins - Alto Saxophone
- Bernd Lhotzky - Piano
- Oliver Mewes - Drums
Two horns, drums and piano. This compact and agile formation allows greatest flexibility and provides harmonious space for finely tuned interplay. The group always focuses on the interaction, the improvised dialogue, the pros and togetherness.
The four musicians bravely bring forth the swinging jazz of Bix and Bop, Getz and Gershwin, always on the lookout for the hidden, and exquisite. “The Great American Songbook” and the masterful recordings of legendary heros make fertile soil for the creativity of the combo, which is reflected in intriguing arrangements, virtuoso solo contributions and expressive compositions. The contemporary treatment of a tremendously diverse repertoire and the humorously spontaneous presentation on stage made the ensemble a celebrated attraction for many renowned festivals soon after its founding. "Echoes of Swing" is at the top of the international classical jazz scene.
Extended tours took the group across Europe, the Atlantic Ocean, Japan, New Zealand and even the Fiji islands. The rapid development of the musical band is now impressively documented on five CDs. Following the "Echoes of Swing,” album, their new, highly anticipated album "Message from Mars", debuted in Paris, at the Prix de L'Accademia du Jazz and more recently in Germany with the prize of the “German Record Critics” (Leaderboard).
